GOOD DAY, READERS.

Expedia is continuing to invest to transition its B2B unit from predominantly a hotel offering to one that includes experiences, ground transport, flights, and trip protection, reports Executive Editor Dennis Schaal.

The push comes as Expedia saw its B2B revenue jump 23% from last year during the second quarter. CEO Ariane Gorin's goal is to turn the unit into a "one-stop shop" for travel. Expedia has, in recent months, acquired Tiqets to provide experiences to B2B partners and is in the process of acquiring CarTrawler, which would expand car rentals, other ground transport, and travel insurance, as well.

Expedia officials didn't bring up Booking Holdings during the earnings call, but Booking's move to consolidate its standalone B2B brands — Booking.com, Agoda, and Priceline — is the most significant recent development in B2B competition.

The B2B land grab is being fought by the people taking the SGF stage.

Glenn Fogel of Booking Holdings and Ariane Gorin of Expedia Group both speak this year, alongside the CEOs of Hilton, Accor, and Uber, in the room where travel's most-watched competitors define what comes next.
