Travel is inherently global, shaped by different cultures, communities and perspectives. The leaders guiding its future need to understand those differences—and recognize the value that diverse experiences bring to the decisions, brands and businesses shaping the industry.
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Women Leading Travel brought together three Latina leaders whose careers span hospitality, tourism, sports, entertainment and luxury travel for a candid conversation about how their backgrounds have influenced the way they lead, build relationships and identify opportunities.
Luisa Mendoza, Founder & CEO of GTSE; Maria Olazabal, Founder & CEO of Ownia Collection; and Claudia Tellez, Director of International Brand Strategy and Operations at Choice Hotels, joined moderator Rosa Maria Contell of Skift to discuss leading across cultures, building trust in global markets, navigating growth without losing sight of your values and using your unique perspective as a leadership strength.
Just as importantly, they explored what it takes to create greater access, visibility and advancement opportunities for Latina talent. Representation matters, but lasting impact comes from ensuring the next generation has the networks, mentorship, sponsorship and opportunities to lead.
