Hotel room revenue growth picked up beyond the luxury segment in the third quarter, though the gap between the top and bottom of the market remained wide.

Across its system, Marriott saw its revenue per available room, or RevPAR, rise 7.4% in the U.S. and Canada. That was a sharp rebound from a year earlier, when it had a 0.4% decline.

It wasn't alone. Hilton’s U.S. RevPAR rose 7%, after falling 2.3%.

Luxury remained a standout factor. Marriott’s U.S. and Canada luxury RevPAR jumped 12%, twice the growth of its select-service hotels.

Yet Wyndham and Choice, which both have portfolios with a greater mix of mid-market and budget hotels, also saw improvement. Wyndham's U.S. RevPAR rose 6%, speeding up from 2% growth in the second quarter. Choice’s increased 3.8%, up from 1.3%.

Sensing ongoing strength in occupancy and pricing power, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and Choice raised their full-year RevPAR forecasts.

The results point to a recovery reaching more of the market.
